Keck + Wood led the design, planning,  permitting, and construction of a 7.6 miles high-pressure 6-inch steel gas main. This complex project included a regulator station, multiple transmission pipeline crossings, and highway crossings. Our team split construction into two phases to accelerate completion: Base Bid and Additive Alternative Bid. The Base Bid and design plans were completed before construction to allow construction to begin early. At the same time, the Additive Alternative Bid was included with the plan set, enabling the final design to continue during Base Bid Construction. This innovative approach allowed for expedited completion of this critical project, increasing natural gas capacity and boosting operating pressure in the western portion of the distribution system. Additionally, this method supports industrial and commercial growth and strengthens supply reliability in an area with a high concentration of industrial and commercial customers. This project was completed in September 2024, ensuring the new gas main was operational before the 2024-2025 winter season and enhancing the natural gas infrastructure.
