US Route 78

The City of Loganville requested an access management and safety analysis for the US 78 Corridor, a principal arterial roadway serving the city. This corridor features a 5-lane highway with a Two-Way Left-Turn Lane and adjacent large retail and commercial developments. A 5-year crash analysis and collision diagrams were developed to assess safety issues. Proposed safety improvements included traffic signal adjustments, roundabouts, RIRO conversions, and RCUT installations. Raised medians with strategic median breaks were also considered for access management. Efforts focused on limiting full-access driveways near intersections. Approximately $1 million was coordinated with GDOT for project funding. The City of Loganville, private developers, and the state DOT collaborated to fund the project.
