Keck & Wood analyzed the existing hydraulic water distribution models and identified pressure losses due to down surges in the system. They evaluated scenarios to meet District and State guidelines for minimum pressure and compliance with AWWA recommendations, leading to the design of a 5,200-gallon surge protection tank. The project included the design of two 20-inch pipe connections to the tank, incorporating flexible adjustments to accommodate structure settlement in Louisiana’s coastal soils.
