Keck & Wood did an analysis of crashes at the signalized intersection of SR 360/Macland Rd and Ernest W Barrett Pkwy from 2013 to 2020 revealed 350 crashes, primarily rear-end collisions (66%) and angle collisions (13%), with the westbound approach experiencing the most rear-end crashes. Contributing factors included protected/permissive left-turn phases, which were linked to many left-turn angle collisions. Short-term solutions proposed include replacing 5-section signal heads with flashing yellow arrows, implementing protected-only left-turn phases, improving signage and retroreflective backplates, and adding turn lane markings, while a long-term solution involves redesigning the intersection as a Median U-Turn (MUT) with dedicated turnaround points.
