Eatonton’s Natural Gas System Mapping and Modeling

Keck + Wood worked with the City of Eatonton on the development of a GIS database for mapping their natural gas system, digitizing gas main locations based on record drawings and as-builts, and GPS collecting of various system structures, including regulator stations, valves, cathodic protection test stations, anode beds and rectifiers. The GIS database was then used in conjunction with the City’s accounting system and usage records to develop a computerized model of the City’s distribution system utilizing GASWorkS. The model has since been utilized for the evaluation of the available natural gas loads for various proposed developments within the system.
