SR21 Corridor Improv., Chatham GA

This project was programmed to address capacity constraints at peak hours, and will widen SR 21 with additional eastbound and westbound lanes, along with additional turn lanes oat the SR 21 and SR 30 intersection.  This intersection and corridor improvement are adjacent to the recently completed SR 21 @ I-95 DDI and will bolster the improvements made by that project for commuter traffic in the area.  Corridor improvements include additional through lanes on SR 21 due to capacity constraints and long queues and an intersection conversion into an unsignalized restricted crossing U-turn (RCUT) due to safety concerns. Project includes re-striping and creation of a second lane and right turn lane at SR 30 Eastbound and signalization of the dual right turning lanes. SR 30 will be widened Westbound (west of the intersection of SR 21 and SR 30) to create an extended merge lane to accompany the newly developed dual lefts at the SR 21 Northbound approach.  The traffic signal at SR 21 at SR 30 will also be upgraded to handle the new intersection geometry
